This tutorial shows how to verify your identity in Free Accounting Software desktop. This is useful so that users can ensure they are who they claim to be.
If receive or send your Free Accounting Software desktop file to another user it's important to verify that they are who they claim to be. Free Accounting Software now has an identity verification feature that assists you in verifying that the user's name is correct.
Download and install the Australia Post Digital iD app. You can download it from the Apple app store or Google Play for free.

Once you install the app, add 2 ID documents e.g. a Driver's License/Passport and medicare card.
You need to complete your photo id in the app. This will likely require you to visit a Post Office. If you are using Android and have a recent passport you may be able to avoid the trip to the Post Office as Digital iD has some way to match the passport photos automatically (but this only works on Android).
Tip: Before visting a Post Office check that they provide the Digital iD service. Not all post offices provide this service. The Digital iD app and the Aus Post website have a locator that allows you to filter for this service.
Another tip: Make sure you have your Digital iD PIN with you when you visit the Post Office. You'll need to unlock the Digital iD app and the Australia Post staff then scan a QR code that's in the app.
In Free Accounting Software desktop, click on the File menu and the option My FAS identity. At the bottom of this page is a button Verify my identity. Click that button to go to the identity verification screen.
Important: Check that your name is correct on this page. If it does not match your identity documents your identity verification will fail.
After checking your details click save and a link is displayed. Click the link to open the web page.

After making the payment, click the button "Verify with Digital iD".
Choose the option "Already have Digital iD" and connect to your phone. A message will pop up on your phone and follow the instructions to complete the process.
The phone app will ask you if you have happy to share your name and date of birth with Free Accounting Software. We then check that your name matches our records. If it does your identity is verified.
Note that you will need to restart Free Accounting Software desktop before the software shows that your identity has been verified.
